The requirement for an applicant to become certified with the Canadian Problem Gambling Certification Board is that one must have a minimum of 3500 supervised counselling hours within 5 years prior to submitting your application. Within the 3500 hours the applicant must have a minimum of 800 supervised evaluated hours of counselling problem gamblers and significant others within 5 years prior to application. 500 hours must be direct services, which includes individual, group counselling. 300 hours may be indirect services, education sessions, and record keeping. An applicant must complete 100 hours of approved gambling specific education and this must be completed within the last six years, prior to the date of application.
